Cover for Extortion - 'Threats'

It’s decently rare to be acutely terrified by a release, however listening to Threats is akin to seeing your dad having a massive feeling one time in its ability to evoke all-encompassing fear. The most acute and keenly produced of all the Extortion releases, Threats stands as a true testament to twenty years in the game, clean in the way having adult money for gear gets you, but still fuming with vitriol and self-hatred. It hits you on twin grounds of being fearful for the mental wellbeing of the band and also fearful for your own when you find yourself inhabiting every lyric Rohan belts out. In the humble opinion of Stew’s die-hardcore correspondent, Threats is not only the greatest release of this year, but potentially of the decade, unless anyone dares try top it, to which we say: good fuckin’ luck brother, call me when the carpal tunnel sets in.
