Cover for Gift Giver - 'Demo'

The exhibition of poor behavior is a much-lorded aspect of life in the techno-permated, self-aggrandising sphere of Web-Speak discourse – dripping like microbiotic run-off from the mouths of those Meta-stasized from blight light neurotoxin. This is, of course, until one finds themselves isolated in the shadow-realm. When the hormones of puberty combine with toxic stress and misconstruct the standardised systems of mental cybernetics. It is here one hopes their symptoms present as the Gift Giver demo and not as hospitalisation for the indefinite future. Perhaps the most mind-blowing aspect of present music has been the art-school-ification of black metal, as though these institutions have not in many ways sublimated the systems of mycelial thought-control the torched church once did. However it is evident in this demo, with its Bone Awl worship, that this is not simply shit corpse-paint and one dude who learnt to tremolo pick only as a by-product of obsessive masturbation over his own grandeur. This is true, brutalist hardcore. Sydney sophistication-in-simplicity rattles through hallowed halls, and may be the most productive use of the fact that everyone has now seen that Hoax in the recycle plant video. It would be incredibly easy for this lot to veer into that hyper-saturated more-is-more nonsense that this side of hardcore tends to encourage, yet the strength is in the firm devotion to tempo, never above that of a brisk walk or a desperate punch out of a headlock. Evil shit done very VERY well.
